What is a Home Care Package?

A Home Care Package is a government subsidy provided to assist you to remain living independently and safely at home. 

The funds are provided to an approved Home Care Provider, who coordinates a package of service and supports to meet your needs.

Home Care Packages are provided under a consumer directed care model, which means that you choose how and what to spend your funds on, in partnership with your approved provider.

There are four levels of funding available and these are allocated based on your needs.

Home Care Package Level 1 – for basic care needs

Home Care Package Level 2 – for low level care needs

Home Care Package Level 3 – for intermediate care needs

Home Care Package Level 4 – for high level care needs

What does my Home Care Package pay for?

Your Home Care Package can pay for a range of services and supports, based on your needs.  A few examples are included below:

  • Personal Care, showering, dressing;
  • Domestic Care, housework, laundry, ironing;
  • Nursing Care;
  • Allied Health services, podiatry, physio;
  • Shopping Assistance;
  • Meal Preparation;
  • Home Delivered Meals;
  • Respite;
  • Home Maintenance, gutters, cleaning windows, installing rails & ramps;
  • Assistance to access community activities;
  • Transport to medical or other community appointments;
  • Gardening, wedding, lawns;
  • Other items or services that assist you to remain living safely and independently.
